Caroline Hallier is a filmmaker and video artist living and working between Paris and Le Tourne, a village in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.
Her work explores the idea of re-genesis: the possibility of revisiting myths, intimate narratives, and collective histories in order to question the mechanisms of domination between living beings.
Drawn to cinema from an early age, she first pursued a more grounded path, studying agronomy and business before working in the corporate world.
In 2021, she left that career behind to return to her initial artistic calling and joined the Master’s programme in Screenwriting, Directing and Producing at the Sorbonne School of Arts.
She went on to found Nikolina Films and directed three short films, Standing nude, A Bob’s life, and Morphine, all screened at French and international festivals.
Alongside filmmaking, she has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning visual arts, music, and theatre, which directly informs her cinematic work.
She is currently developing her next short film, Cold Cuts (produced by Les Sommets Imaginaires), as well as Animal Spectrum, a cycle of eight experimental films.
Caroline Hallier is a board member of the Société des Réalisatrices et Réalisateurs de Films, where she coordinates the ecology working group, and co-president of NAAIS, the association of authors in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
